HC Deb 26 May 1919 vol 116 cc830-1
60. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Prime Minister what reply Admiral Koltchak made to the proposal to allow assistance to Russia as proposed by Dr. Nansen; and whether he declined to suspend hostilities in order that that relief might be carried out?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

As regards the first part of the question, His Majesty's Government are not aware that the pro- posal was communicated by Dr. Nansen to Admiral Koltchak. The second part of the question therefore does not arise.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

Is the Government aware whether the question was submitted to Admiral Koltchak by anybody else?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

Perhaps the hon. Member will put down a question.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

Do you deny that Admiral Koltchak knew of the proposal?
