HC Deb 22 May 1919 vol 116 cc572-3
80. Colonel YATE

asked the President of the Board of Education what decision has been come to with reference to the strengthening of the staff of inspectors of physical training; whether one man inspector for boys and one woman inspector for girls for each inspectorial division have now been appointed; and, if not, how many still remain to be appointed?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Fisher)

I am in communication with the Treasury on this subject, but I do not consider that so large an increase of the inspectorate for this purpose as is suggested in the second part of the question is necessary.

Colonel YATE

What increase does the right hon. Gentleman consider necessary?

Mr. FISHER

I say that a certain increase is necessary.
