HC Deb 22 May 1919 vol 116 cc538-9
12. Mr. MacVEAGH

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether any arrests have been made in connection with the attacks on the American Government aerodrome in county Cork?

Mr. SAMUELS

No attacks have been made on any American Government aerodrome in county Cork.

Mr. MacVEAGH

Can the right hon. Gentleman tell me on what charge two policemen were sent to prison for breaking into an aerodrome?

Mr. SAMUELS

If the hon. Member puts down a question I will answer it. I think he refers to a case where two men were convicted at the last Cork Assizes.

Mr. MacVEAGH

Quite so; but were not these two men policemen?

Mr. SAMUELS

They were policemen—a great exception to the splendid discipline of that force.

Lieut.-Colonel W. GUINNESS

Was it a Government aerodrome or an American aerodrome?

Mr. MacVEAGH

The sort of outrages we have in Ireland!
