HC Deb 20 May 1919 vol 116 c177
85. Sir PETER GRIGGS

asked the Postmaster-General whether in 1914 Post Office telegraphists were forbidden to enlist in any other unit than the Royal Engineers, they at the same time being offered full civil pay and all emoluments; and why the special war gratuity is now withheld from them?

The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr. Illingworth)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. With regard to the second part, I must refer the hon. Member to the reply given by the Financial Secretary to the War Office to questions on the subject on the 10th of April.
