HC Deb 20 May 1919 vol 116 c199
63. Sir P. GRIGGS

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that many ex-special constables who have had recently to resign for business reasons, after serving in some cases over four years, are very anxious to be able to take part in the review to be held by His Majesty the King, and if lie can make arrangements for them to do so?

The UNDER-SECRETARY Of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Colonel Sir Hamar Greenwood)

The Commissioner of Police informs me that in view of the large number involved, it will only be possible for serving special constables to participate in the review. It is hoped, however, to allot to ex-special constables some special spot on the line of route.

66. Captain LOSEBY

asked the Home Secretary if he can say what steps have been taken to recognise the services rendered by those men who voluntarily undertook the duties of special constables during the period of the War?

Sir H. GREENWOOD

The subject is under consideration, but no final conclusion has been arrived at yet with regard to it.
