HC Deb 20 May 1919 vol 116 c173
33. Major LLOYD-GREAME

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he has considered the desirability of granting a gratuity on demobilisation to members of the Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps; whether such a gratuity will be granted; and, if so, on what terms?

Mr. FORSTER

Provision has already been made for the grant on demobilisation of two months' pay and allowances to officials and of twenty-eight days' furlough on full pay to members of this corps who enrolled on a mobile basis. Members other than officials also get special provision in respect of out-of-work donation.

Major LLOYD-GREAME

In view of the answer given to question 25, can the right hon. Gentleman say whether there is any real reason for differentiation in payment against women who have done the same work in uniform as men?

Mr. FORSTER

These people are serving on a totally different contract of ser vice. I cannot see why the terms of the contract of service should not be observed.
