HC Deb 19 May 1919 vol 116 c40
84. Major NALL

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the necessity for announcing without delay the details and conditions of the reconstituted Territorial Force, he will appoint a Committee of Territorial officers who have served overseas to advise on these questions?

Captain GUEST

The terms and conditions of service in the reconstituted Territorial Force are now being considered, after ascertaining the views and opinions of representatives of the county associations. Divisional and Brigade Commanders are about to be appointed, and as they will be selected from officers who have been closely associated with and have commanded Territorial formations in the field, there is no fear of the Territorial point of view being overlooked. I do not think it is necessary, therefore, to appoint a Committee as suggested by my hon. and gallant Friend.

Major E. WOOD

Can the hon. Gentleman say when he expects to be able to make a full statement on this subject of the future of the Territorial Force?

Captain GUEST

I should think very soon, but I cannot say definitely at present.

Major NALL

Will the hon. Gentleman say when it is proposed to publish the new functions of the Territorial Force?

Captain GUEST

That will be included in the statement to which I referred.
