HC Deb 19 May 1919 vol 116 cc2-3
2. Colonel BURN

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can furnish a balance sheet showing the receipts and expenditure of the British Industries Fair, specifying the principal heads in each case and showing the pro- portion of the cost of the exhibition chargeable to the Exhibition Department; and whether the number of square feet occupied by exhibits and the number of visitors who attended the exhibition can be stated?

Sir A. GEDDES

The balance sheet for the British Industries Fair, 1919, cannot be completed for several months, but, as these fairs are organised on a self-supporting basis, no expenses are incurred by His Majesty's Government in connection with them. As published in the "Board of Trade Journals" of 27th February and 13th March, the number of exhibitors was 570, and the total number of visitors was over 31,000. The amount of floor space occupied by exhibitors' stands amounted to 80,207 square feet.
