asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will give the names and official positions of the members of the selection boards for candidates for the Foreign Office Diplomatic and Consular Services?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

The Committee of Selection for the Foreign Office and Diplomatic Service, which interviewed candidates for the February, 1919, examination, was composed of the following gentlemen: Mr. Stanley Leathes, First Civil Service Commissioner (Chairman); Mr. W. Brace, M.P., formerly Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Home Office; Colonel Earle, C.M.G., D.S.O., nominated by the War Office; Mr. J. R. Maguire, C.B.E.; Mr. J. F. P. Rawlinson, K.C., M.P.; the Hon. Theo. Russell, C.B., C.V.O., Counsellor in the Diplomatic Service and Diplomatic Secretary to the Secretary of State; and Mr. J. A. C. Tilley, C.B., Acting Assistant Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.

The Selection Committee for the Consular Service consisted of: Mr. Stanley Leathes (Chairman); Sir William Clark, K.C.S.I., C.M.G., Department of Oversea Trade; Mr. Victor Wellesley, C.B., Controller of Commercial and Consular Affairs, Foreign Office; Mr. Thos. Worthington, O.B.E., Board of Trade; Mr. Manville, representing the Associated Chambers of Commerce; and Mr. Perry, representing the Federation of British Industries.
