HC Deb 15 May 1919 vol 115 cc1733-4
1. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether delegates from the Republic of Georgia (Caucasus) have been to Paris to attend the Peace Conference; whether a duma or constituent assembly has been elected in Georgia; and whether this new State has been recognised or is going to be recognised by His Majesty's Government?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Harmsworth)

The answer to the first two parts of the question is in the affirmative. The Georgian Republic has not been recognised by His Majesty's Government, whose future attitude in the matter will be determined in concert with their Allies.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

Will the Constituent Assembly of Georgia be allowed to have a voice in the decision as to the country to exercise mandatory powers.

Mr. HARMSWORTH

I must ask for notice of that question.
