HC Deb 15 May 1919 vol 115 cc1767-8
73. Major PRESCOTT

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether he is aware that serious floods have again occurred in the Lea and Stort Valleys; whether the Board's Engineering inspector has now completed his investigations; and if he will consider the desirability of convening a conference of the county councils, local authorities, and other public bodies interested, or otherwise appoint a flooded lands commission to formulate remedial measures?

Major ASTOR

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. In regard to the remainder of the question, the inspector's investigations are not yet completed, but when my right hon. Friend receives his Report, the suggestion which the hon. Member makes will be considered.
