§ It would be impossible to set out the expenditure of each Colony and Protectorate separately within the limits of an answer, 1433 but the total direct expenditure of the Colonies and Protectorates has been estimated at some £10,000,000, to which must be added contributions amounting to over £15,000,000 to the War expenditure of His Majesty's Government, and some £12,000,000, the ultimate incidence of which, as between this country and the Protectorates concerned, has not yet been determined.
§ As regards Indian expenditure I suggest that a further question should be put on the Paper, and addressed to the Secretary of State for India.
