HC Deb 06 May 1919 vol 115 c725
25. Lieutenant-Colonel ARCHER-SHEE

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will say when he anticipates that the issue of widows' gratuities will be commenced, and in what order they will be dealt with?

Mr. FORSTER

If by "widows' gratuities" my hon. and gallant Friend means the war gratuity due to deceased soldiers, this becomes part of their estates, and goes to the legal heirs. The issue of these gratuities has already commenced, and cases are being dealt with in the order of the date of death, as was explained in the reply given to the hon. and gallant Member for Lonsdale on the 1st May.
