HC Deb 06 May 1919 vol 115 cc733-4
32. Mr. BOTTOMLEY

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he has yet received the report for which he has called from the General Officer Commanding the Army of the Rhine respecting the insertion of advertisements of German firms in the "Cologne Post," which is published under his control; and, if so, what is the explanation furnished?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I regret that the report has not yet been received, but I will write to my hon. Friend as soon as I am in a position to do so.

Sir J. D. REES

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that business men in the Midlands are very much concerned about this, and regard it as a kind of beginning of peaceful penetration, and would be very glad if my right hon. Friend would put a stop to this species of advertisement?
