HC Deb 06 May 1919 vol 115 cc723-4
78. Mr. MORRISON

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that there is dissatisfaction at Winterbourne Gunner owing to the dismissal by the Post Office authorities of Bernard Callaway, a man badly wounded in France, from the position of postman which he had held with general satisfaction for two and a half years; and whether he will order an independent inquiry into the matter?

Mr. ILLINGWORTH

The man in question was only employed in a temporary capacity, and it was necessary to discontinue his services in order to provide for a regular postman from another office. Inquiries with a view to offer him further employment are proceeding.
