§ 35. Mr. CLOUGH
asked the Home Secretary whether the Act of George III. 310 is in existence under which judges have the power to award double rent in the case of the non-vacation of a house after the expiration of notice; whether he is aware this Act is still being put in force; and whether, if it is still valid, he will consider its immediate abrogation?
§ Mr. SHORTT
I would refer the hon. Member to the case of Flannagan v. Shaw reported in to-day's "Times." It appears that the operation of the Act of 1737 is suspended by Section 1 of the Increase of Rent and Mortgage Interest (War Restrictions) Act of 1915.
