The following figures show the number of recruits enlisted on normal engagements and the number of re-enlistments of men already serving, with the average daily rate:—

Number of recruits enlisted on normal attestations from 1st January to 15th March, 1919, is 8,986

Total enlisted in sixty-three days is 60,860
or 935 per day.
Between the 15th March and the 19th March (i.e. on the 16th, 17th, and 18th March) the number of re-enlistments was 3,297
or at a rate of over 1,000 per day.

Colonel ASHLEY

What is the normal period of engagement now?

Mr. CHURCHILL

These young boys, of whom we are getting 8,900, are enlisting for seven years with the Colours and five with the Reserve.
