HC Deb 20 March 1919 vol 113 c2229
57. Lieutenant-Colonel CLAUDE LOWTHER

asked whether, in view of the danger to the industries and trade of this country through the menace of lightning strikes which would provide an opportunity for Bolshevist agitation, he will be willing to receive at an early date a deputation from the National Security Union and other institutions formed to combat this specific danger?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The Government are fully alive to the dangers indicated in the question, and I do not think that any Useful purpose would be served by seeing such a deputation as is suggested.

An HON. MEMBER

What are the credentials of the National Security Union—who are they?

Mr. DEVLIN

Will the right hon. Gentleman inform the House what is a lightning strike?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I certainly cannot give the hon. Member any information, but I should think that it meant a strike that occurred without notice.
