HC Deb 19 March 1919 vol 113 cc2097-8
92. Mr. CROOKS

asked the Home Secretary whether, in view of the services rendered by special constables during the War and the individual inconvenience and expense incurred, he will favourably consider the possibility of recognising their services by way of a monetary grant?

Mr. SHORTT

The matter is under consideration and I hope that some means of recognising the valuable services of the special constables may be agreed upon shortly, but I do not think that it can take the form of a monetary grant.
