HC Deb 19 March 1919 vol 113 cc2091-2
69. Mr. TOOTILL

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether the Salford Guardians have refused to grant to their officers a war bonus on the scale laid down in the awards of the Conciliation and Arbitration Board of the 9th July and 8th November, 1918; and whether he will approach the board of guardians on the matter?

Mr. PRATT (Lord of the Treasury)

My right hon. Friend is aware of the difference which arose between the Salford guardians and their officers on the subject of war bonus. He has asked the guardians to reconsider their refusal to submit the difference to arbitration, and he understands that they have referred the matter to a committee, but he has not yet learnt the results of the further consideration given to the subject.
