HC Deb 19 March 1919 vol 113 c2079
25. Mr. TOOTILL

asked the Minister of Labour whether the Salford Board of Guardians have refused an application made by their officers for a war bonus on the scale laid down by the Conciliation and Arbitration Board for Government Employés; and whether he will take steps in accordance with the request of the employés to have the matter referred to arbitration as was done in connection with a similar application of the staff employed by the Brighton Board of Guardians?

Mr. WARDLE

The Department is in communication with the Salford Board of Guardians, and has been informed by the clerk to the board that the matter has been referred to a committee consisting of all the members of the board for consideration. Before the Department can refer the matter to arbitration it is necessary to obtain the consent of both parties to such a course of action.
