HC Deb 12 March 1919 vol 113 cc1267-8
27. Mr. R. YOUNG

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is considering the advisability or otherwise of extending the life of the Wages (Temporary Regulations) Act; and whether, in view of the lack of any assurance that the cost of living will be substantially decreased, he will take steps to keep the Act in being?

Mr. WARDLE

The position is as indicated in the reply which was given to the hon. Member on the 17th February, but I may add that one of the matters which is to be considered by the Provisional Joint Committee established by the Industrial Conference held on the 27thFebruary is the question of the methods of dealing with war wage advances, and I have no doubt that the Sub-Committee which is considering this matter will deal with the position of the Wages (Temporary Regulation) Act, and will offer some advice to the Government as to the continuance or otherwise of that Act.
