asked the Secretary of State for India whether he can now state what measures have been taken to reduce the rates of passage money charged for berths on passenger steamers between India and England?

I am glad to be able to inform the hon. and gallant Member that the rates have been reduced by 20 per cent. with effect from the first of this month, and the issue of return tickets at a fare and a half resumed.
