HC Deb 12 March 1919 vol 113 c1250
5. Sir CLEMENT KINLOCH-COOKE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that students and teachers in Group 43, who have been employed as temporary naval schoolmasters, have not yet been released; and whether, in view of the educational reconstruction which is now proceeding, he can see his way to bring about their demobilisation at the earliest possible moment?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Dr. Macnamara)

My hon. Friend will be glad to know that a very considerable percentage of the temporary schoolmasters who were serving on 29th January last have been demobilised. Of the remainder, some are abroad; some do not wish to be released at present; some have applied for transfer to the Permanent List, and some have made no application for demobilisation. Steps will be taken to release the last-mentioned officers, if they should so desire.
