HC Deb 12 March 1919 vol 113 c1272
41. Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the Army Council has decided that all road rollers returned from France shall be offered, in the first instance, to local authorities, whether they previously owned them or not, and at a price less than that which commercial firms are prepared to pay; and whether he will see that the rollers are sold by open competition at the best price obtainable?

Mr. CHURCHILL

In accordance with a decision of the War Cabinet, road-making plant is being transferred by the Army Council to the Road Board as quickly as it can be released. The question of its disposal is a matter for the Road Board.
