HC Deb 10 March 1919 vol 113 cc901-2
11. Mr. R. McNEILL

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the development of motoring and the motor industry since the passing of the existing legislation on the subject, he will at an early date introduce a measure to liberate the industry from all unnecessary restrictions?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

If the hon. Member has in mind the motor spirit licence restrictions, I would refer him to the reply given to the hon. Members for Pontypool and Ashford on the 24th February, from which it will be seen that it is not possible to make an announcement in anticipation of the Budget statement. If, however, the question refers to the regulations made under the Motor Car Act, 1903, the matter is not one for the Board of Trade.
