§ 78. Mr. JOHN JONESasked the President of the Local Government Board whether in the event of a Bill being introduced for the revision of the law relating to the relief of the poor and the distribution amongst other authorities of the powers exercisable by boards of guardians, as suggested in Clause 3 (3) of the Ministry of Health Bill, he will take care to secure that the duties of the guardians to relieve the necessitous shall also be transferred to the other authorities; and that the legal rights of the poor to necessary relief given by 43 Eliz. c. 2, shall not be taken away or diminished?
