HC Deb 06 March 1919 vol 113 c610
63. Lieutenant-Colonel WEIGALL

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been called to the alarm and disturbance caused in commercial circles by Regulation 30 f, paragraph 1, Sub-section (b), and paragraph 2, Sub-section (a); and whether he can state how long it is proposed to continue these Regulations?

Mr. BALDWIN

My right hon. Friend has given careful consideration to the representations which have been made to him both in regard to the two paragraphs referred to in the question and in regard to the Regulation generally, and he believes that the amended Regulation, which will be issued at a very early date, will remove any apprehension which has been felt lest the wording of these paragraphs should hamper certain transactions which are not only unobjectionable but desirable from the point of view of national interests.

Lieutenant-Colonel WEIGALL

How soon can we have the issue of the new Regulations?

Mr. BALDWIN

There will be no delay.
