HC Deb 06 March 1919 vol 113 c597
31. Mr. MacVEAGH

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he has seen the official announcement as to the large Grant by the Treasury for roads in Great Britain; and whether an equivalent Grant has been made to Ireland?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I have seen the announcement referred to. The question of an equivalent Grant for Ireland is under consideration.

Mr. MacVEAGH

Can the right hon. Gentleman say why a decision has not been arrived at in regard to Ireland, seeing that a decision with regard to England was arrived at nearly two months ago?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I know that there has been some delay—necessary delay—because of the change of office. I have just had my attention drawn to this particular point, and will engage to see that attention is directed to it at once.

Mr. DEVLIN

Will the right hon. Gentleman deal with this matter also in the discussion?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I will try.
