HC Deb 06 March 1919 vol 113 cc614-5
83. Mr. MURRAY MACDONALD

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that certain employers are refusing to take back apprentices whose indentures were broken by enlistment in the Army; and, if so, whether he proposes to take any steps to provide a remedy?

Sir R. HORNE

My attention has been called to a certain number of cases where employers have refused to take back persons whose apprenticeship has been interrupted by service in His Majesty's Forces. It is hoped that the Government's proposals for assisting such apprentices, when in operation, will lead to apprentices being enabled to complete their apprenticeship.
