Colonel ASHLEYasked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been drawn in the case of Private James Cullen, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, stationed at Galashiels, who, through an error on the part of his commanding officer, was demobilised, and was afterwards arrested as an absentee and brought before the West Riding magistrate at Wakefield; and whether he will see that this man is not penalised for his commanding officer's mistake?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLI am not aware of this occurrence, but will make inquiries into the case, and inform my hon. and gallant Friend of the result as early as possible.
