§ 33. Captain REGINALD TERRELLasked the Secretary of State for War what are the Government intentions with regard to the stores depot at Didcot; and whether, if the building operations are to continue, he will consider the desirability of the work being taken out of the hands of contractors and given to the Royal Engineers?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLThe Didcot depot is one of the main Ordnance depots in the United Kingdom, and it is proposed to retain it as such. As regards the second part of the question, all building operations at this depot, and all maintenance services have been in the hands of the Royal Engineers since September, 1918. Contractors employed on any new services are and will continue to be under direct local Royal Engineer supervision.
