HC Deb 03 March 1919 vol 113 c17
20. Major Sir BERTRAM FALLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade if, owing to the over-valuation of sheep in Areas 13 and 13a, many costing considerably over retail maximum prices, also over-valuation of skins, and there being no redress forthcoming, the Portsmouth Retail Butchers' Committee have decided to refuse to take sheep from these areas otherwise than on the dead weight; and that the committee demand that the sheep in our local markets be in future allocated for local consumption and not, as now, sent to London; and if he will make inquiries into the matter?

Mr. McCURDY

I have been asked to reply. The Food Controller has received a resolution from the Portsmouth Retail Butchers' Committee in the terms mentioned by the hon. and gallant Member, and inquiries are already being made into the matter.
