HC Deb 03 March 1919 vol 113 cc7-8
6. Colonel YATE

asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps he is taking to protect the British glass industry from being flooded out of existence by the importation of foreign glass?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The prohibitions on the import of glass manufactures are being administered in consultation with the Departments interested, and in particular with the glassware section of the Ministry of Munitions. The consideration suggested by the question is being constantly kept in view.

Colonel YATE

Will the hon. Gentleman see that British goods are supplied by British workmen and that British money is kept in this country?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I said that the consideration suggested by the question is being constantly kept in view.

Sir RICHARD COOPER

Can the hon. Gentleman say that the importation of German lamp glass has been definitely stopped?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I must ask for notice of that question.
