HC Deb 30 June 1919 vol 117 cc589-90
9. Mr. ACLAND

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the perma- ment trade policy of the Government has been submitted to and approved by the War Cabinet or the Home Affairs Committee of the Cabinet?

10. Brigadier-General CROFT

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the economic policy, which is in his possession, has received the approval of the Cabinet?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I cannot give any information as to the permanent trade policy proposals before a general statement is made as to the intentions of the Government.

Mr. ACLAND

I merely asked if it had been approved by the Cabinet?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I am not in a position to say.

Brigadier-General CROFT

Does anybody know?

11. Mr. GEORGE TERRELL

asked the President of the Board of Trade the names of the members of the Committee which has advised the Government in connection with the economic trade policy of the country?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I am not quite sure to what Committee the hon. Member refers. Numerous Committees have advised the Government on this subject, and the names of their members are to be found in their published Reports. I am circulating the Command numbers of these Papers in the OFFICIAL REPORT

The following is the list of Command Papers referred to:

Cd. Papers 8482, 9032, 9033, 9034, 9035, 9070, 9071, 9072, 9073, 9092, 9093, 9182, 9224, 9226, 9227, and 9236.

Mr. TERRELL

The Committee, the names of which I desire to know, is the Committee which settled the policy which was announced to be now locked up in a box?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I was not aware that it was settled by this particular Committee.

Mr. TERRELL

Can my hon. Friend give the names of the gentlemen who were concerned with formulating that policy?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

There was not, as far as I know, any Committee such as that suggested by the hon. Gentleman.

Mr. BILLING

Who has the key of the box?
