HC Deb 30 June 1919 vol 117 cc599-600
43. Sir ROBERT NEWMAN

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether very considerable delay has occurred in coming to a decision in connection with demobilised officers who have made application for grants to continue their education in agriculture; whether in certain cases a delay of five or six months has taken place since the first application was made or personal interview took place, in consequence of which the applicant has lost a whole term's instruction; and whether steps can be taken to expedite these cases?

Sir A. BOSCAWEN

Applications of the nature referred to are placed by the Board before a Departmental Committee of Selection, upon whose recommendations the Board act. I am not aware of any avoidable delay in decisions being arrived at, but if my hon. Friend will furnish me with particulars of the cases to which he refers I will at once have inquiries made into them and communicate the result to him.
