§ 69. Colonel GRETTONasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the Victory Bonds, which are to be accepted by the Treasury at face value if tendered in payment for death and estate duties, will be valued for probate in the usual way, namely, at the market price on the day of the death of the testator?
§ Mr. BALDWINIn calculating the value of the bonds as part of a deceased person's estate for purposes of probate they will be taken at their market price on the day of the death of the testator. In the case of any subsequent claims for Legacy Duty or Succession Duty which may arise in respect of the same bonds as forming part of the testator's estate, the bonds will be valued for the purposes of those duties at their market value at the time when such duties become payable.
