§ 32. Mr. ARNOLD
asked the Undersecretary of State to the Air Ministry the number of the staff of the Air Ministry on 31st May, 1919, as compared with the number on the date of the Armistice, 11th November, 1918?
§ Major-General SEELY
The number of persons of all types employed in the Air 26 Ministry at the Armistice was 4,646 and on the 31st May 3,289. It will be understood that the large amount of work due to demobilisation has necessitated the retention of a large clerical staff.
