HC Deb 02 June 1919 vol 116 c1662
29. Sir A. FELL

asked if it is certain that the stores in the native quarters of the large towns in India, which before the War were established by Germans for the sale of German goods, will not be opened after the Peace by Germans or by any other persons acting for, or controlled by, Germans?

Mr. PRATT

The Secretary of State is in communication with the Government of India as to the treatment of ex-enemy aliens in trade after the War. At present he is not in a position to make a statement on the subject.

Sir A. FELL

Have these stores been taken possession of by the Indian Government, or are they being worked as German stores?

Mr. PRATT

I regret that I cannot add anything to the answer that has been already given.
