Mr. HARMSWORTHDecisions as to the scope and the sphere of Greek activity in Asia Minor lie with the Allied Conference at Paris. Information has reached the Conference to the effect that the Greeks have taken over control of the shipping and customs at Smyrna, but the Allied Powers have not recognised this action, and inquiries are being made of the Greek Government at Athens. I need not say that His Majesty's Government will take all necessary measures to secure fair treatment for British shipping and trading interests. In regard to the last part of the question, information received from all sources is far from confirming the impression that British prestige stands in any need of re-establishment.
