HC Deb 21 July 1919 vol 118 cc898-9
96. Lieut.-Colonel MURROUGH WILSON

asked the Food Controller whether he is aware that the prices of linseed cake, cotton cake, and other feeding-stuffs have increased by nearly 50 per cent, since May, 1919, and are still rising; and what steps he proposes taking to enable farmers to obtain feeding-stuffs at a price in some way commensurate with the controlled prices of meat?

Mr. ROBERTS

I understand that the rise in the price of feeding-stuffs since May, 1919, is considerably less than the figure quoted by the hon. and gallant Member. The whole question of the supply and price of feeding-stuffs is receiving careful consideration, and every effort will be made to provide supplies at prices on a parity with the prices to be fixed for meat during the coming winter.

Lieut.-Colonel WILSON

Does the right hon. Gentleman propose to control the price of feeding-stuffs?

Mr. ROBERTS

I cannot say any more at the moment.
