HC Deb 21 July 1919 vol 118 c910
85. Lieut.-Col. MEYSEY-THOMPSON

asked the Under-Secretary of State to the Air Ministry whether he is aware that the pay of an adjutant at a flying training depot amounts to less than the pay and allowances received by a lieutenant at the same depot; that this is justified on the plea that the adjutant is not a pilot; whether he is aware that the adjutant must frequently fly in order to carry out his duties efficiently; and whether the Air Minister will consider the claims of these adjutants to more favourable treatment?

Major-General SEELY

As I have stated in reply to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for East Islington, there will, in future, be uniform rates of pay for all branches, including the Administrative Branch to which adjutants belong. The rates now in force for adjutants have been governed by the fact that the adjutant has not hitherto had to fly as part of his duties.
