HC Deb 14 July 1919 vol 118 c30
62. Mr. LYLE

asked the Prime Minister whether, on the occasion of the coming visit of naval men to London from the warships at Southend, he will arrange for a party of them to receive an East End welcome?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Dr. Macnamara)

I have been asked to answer this question. In the name of the officers and men of the Fleet, I beg to thank my hon. Friend for the kindly spirit which has inspired his invitation. I may say that the City of London and various guilds and companies, and other bodies, are organising various entertainments for the Fleet on Monday, 21st inst. I do not know whether what my hon. Friend has in mind would conflict with any of the arrangements already made; but I should be very glad if he would discuss the matter with those responsible for the programme at the Admiralty.
