§ 62. Mr. LYLEasked the Prime Minister whether, on the occasion of the coming visit of naval men to London from the warships at Southend, he will arrange for a party of them to receive an East End welcome?
§ The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Dr. Macnamara)I have been asked to answer this question. In the name of the officers and men of the Fleet, I beg to thank my hon. Friend for the kindly spirit which has inspired his invitation. I may say that the City of London and various guilds and companies, and other bodies, are organising various entertainments for the Fleet on Monday, 21st inst. I do not know whether what my hon. Friend has in mind would conflict with any of the arrangements already made; but I should be very glad if he would discuss the matter with those responsible for the programme at the Admiralty.
