HC Deb 14 July 1919 vol 118 c18
11. Mr. ALFRED SHORT

asked the President of the Board of Trade why, in the recently issued Report of the Committee on Trusts, the names of the firms and associations mentioned are not given; and whether, in view of the fact that this information is of the greatest public interest, he will take steps to secure that in any future Report of this nature all names will be published?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The publication or omission of names in a Report of the kind in question must necessarily be left to the discretion of the Committee itself, having regard to the particular circumstances of the inquiry, and I am informed that the course taken by the Committee in this particular instance was due to the fact that much of the information before them was obtained confidentially. The desirability of giving the names in future investigations into the operations of trade combinations will be borne in mind.
