HC Deb 07 July 1919 vol 117 c1377
25. Lieut.-Colonel A. MURRAY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affaire whether any laws have recently been passed in the United States of America regarding the immigration of aliens; and, if so, what is their nature?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

No new legislation has actually been enacted, but bills have been laid before the United States House of Representatives and Senate, the effect of which would be to prohibit alien immigration for periods of four and five years respectively.
