HC Deb 07 July 1919 vol 117 cc1367-8
79. Mr. EDWARD KELLY

asked the Minister of Health the average ratio of the economic rent of houses under the present Bill to the actual rent, and ratio for the large cities, the urban districts, and the rural districts?

Dr. ADDISON

It is not possible to add anything to the detailed statements which have already been made to the House on this subject; but the economic rent will depend upon the cost of building, and as a working rule it is suggested that the cost of building in 1927 (which is taken as the end of the transition period) will be not more than two-thirds of the present cost.

Mr. MacVEAGH

What is the detail statement which the right hon. Gentleman has mentioned?

Dr. ADDISON

We have made detail statements on this subject on several occasions both in the House on the Bill and on the Financial Resolution, and in the various Papers which have been issued to Members of the House.
