(by Private Notice)asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that about 100 discharged and demobilised soldiers who had been given civil employment at the Army Pay Office, Upper Thames Street, were discharged on 27th and 30th June, and whether it is the case that young women employé s are being retained at this office, while many of these demobilised men are now unemployed in circumstances of considerable hard ship?

I have no knowledge of what my hon. Friend calls attention to, but I have called for an immediate report, and will look to it.

Mr. ROWLANDS

Shall I put the question down for Thursday?

Mr. FORSTER
