HC Deb 27 February 1919 vol 112 cc1932-3
23. Captain REDMOND

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether the Irish Convention reported unanimously in favour of a scheme to complete land purchase in Ireland; and whether he intends to introduce a Bill upon those lines?

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL for IRELAND (Mr. Arthur Samuels)

The Irish Convention did agree in their Report as to a scheme of land purchase, but it is not proposed by the Government to introduce legislation on the subject at present.

Captain REDMOND

Is the Government going to allow the question of land purchase in Ireland, as well as every other question affecting Ireland, to drift?

Sir EDWARD CARSON

May I ask my right hon. and learned Friend if unanimity of all parties in Ireland is an obstacle to getting legislation for Ireland?

Mr. DEVLIN
