HC Deb 26 February 1919 vol 112 cc1752-3
Mr. DEVLIN

asked the Leader of the House when the Chief Secretary for Ireland will be in his place, and when he proposes to make a statement on the Government's Irish policy?

Mr. BONAR LAW

As soon as the Re-election of Ministers Bill has received the Royal Assent—which I fancy will be to-day—my right hon. Friend will be able to take his place. But he is at present in Ireland.

Mr. DEVLIN

When will he be able to make a declaration on Irish policy?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I am by no means satisfied that the time has come when a declaration would be useful.

Mr. DEVLIN

Will the right hon. Gentleman tell us if the Government has an Irish policy?

Mr. BONAR LAW

That must be evident.

Mr. DEVLIN

What is it?
