HC Deb 25 February 1919 vol 112 c1575
30. Lieutenant-Colonel POWNALL

asked the Secretary for War whether he is aware that Territorial officers serving prior to the commencement of theWar were only allowed £20 outfit allowance, while those who have been gazetted since have been allowed £50; and whether officers serving before the War will be granted an increase in the gratuity payable on demobilisation?

Captain GUEST

Officers appointed to the Territorial Force before mobilisation received an outfit grant of £20, if apappointed before April, 1913, and £40 if appointed after that date, subject, in the latter case, to their being in possession of full or mess dress. On mobilisation they received a grant of £7 10s. for camp kit, but as they were required in peace time to provide and maintain service dress no further grant for its provision was required. The £50 grant includes the £7 10s., and is applicable only to officers commissioned during the War. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.
